Every jar of honey begins with the bees that thrive in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. Our honey is hand-harvested in small batches, ensuring that each drop retains its natural flavor, golden color, and rich aroma. We produce seasonal varieties and flavor infused variants of our hand made honey.
Unlike mass-produced honey, Currahee Bee honey is not heat treated or ultra filtered to ensure it maintains its health and allergy benefits. Instead, we keep it simple – just pure, raw honey the way nature intended.
Currahee Bee currently has over 25 local hives spread across three locations in Rabun County Georgia.
Honey Varieties
Sourwood
Sourwood Honey is a premium locally sourced honey that has won the Apimondia world honey tasting championships over four times. It comes from the nectar of the Sourwood tree, which only grows in the Appalachia region.
Mountain Wildflower
Wildflower honey comes from several local nectar sources. Tulip Poplar, Blackberry, Black Locust, Lavender, Clover, and other wildflowers are the predominant nectar sources around Currahee Bee yards.
Hot Honey
Appalachian Sweet Heat is made from pure local honey infused with real Jalapeño peppers. It’s heavy on the Jalapeño taste, but with only a mild trailing heat so it’s perfect for those who want the hot honey taste but not all the fire.
Appalachian Inferno is made from pure local honey infused with real habanero peppers. It definitely has a sweet honey flavor forward, but wait for it, it has a kick on the back end that will let you know what hot honey really is. Don’t worry, it’s just the right amount of heat, not so hot it will ruin your taste buds!
Bourbon Barrel Honey
Bourbon Barrel is a unique blend of pure local wildflower and orange blossom honey aged for 120 days in freshly emptied Kentucky bourbon barrels. It is rich and smooth with notes of caramel and toffee that complement its natural floral sweetness.
